Turbocharger laboratory
Turbochargers are tested during development and series production for several reasons. There are a lot of possibilities, to select the optimal depends on different factors.
The input parameters are easily and separately modifiable on turbocharger test-bench. It follows that the measurements are more comparable and reproducible. These tests are cheaper than on an engine test-bench because the energy is fully used, while only part of the energy is used on an engine test-bench.
In the future there are a lot of development: for example measuring the turbocharger in hybrid operation and with high exhaust gas temperature (over 1000°C).
